I think that we have seen a pretty clear trend in the NBA where a lot of top recruits are foregoing college and heading to either the G League or overseas. The NBA has created the "Ignite" G league team specifically for these guys. They have even proposed a MLB style of one G league team per NBA team to allow teams to groom their own players. We've had three "draft and stash" guys already taken in the first ten picks of the rookie draft.
I think in the spirit of a dynasty league the "draft and stash" player should be encouraged and feel that the limit of three G league spots is counter to this. I would propose that we at least double the number of spots to six or maybe even ten spots.
Pros: Encourage teams to take a chance on more players a little further out. Increase the amount of rosterable players who won't contribute for one or two, or even three years. Allow the owner to feel like he has a little more control of his own destiny by allowing a pipeline of incoming talent to be built.
Cons: Probably would make the Free Agent draft even less important than it is now where almost all of the decent players on okay contracts are rostered and not exposed to the free agent draft.
I propose that we put it to a league wide vote.
Also, willing to hear dissenting opinions.

GJ I do believe the NBA is trying to develop the G league. I'd agree that addine one or two addtional spots would be beneficial. But i'd worry about the rookie draft being more dried up cause more INTL and GLeague players would be taken 2-3 years down the road. Another concern would be tracking that many players to assure other teams don't try to bid on them. I feel the rookie draft should be used only to acquire Rookie, INTL, and GLeague players. That way the FA pool doesn't become less important.

I think it’s an idea worth looking at. On one hand I think it could hurt the Rookie Draft. I guess as long as we still limit to in the GLeague or a Pro International League you would still get to take them a year ahead of when they actually get drafted. In this scenario I would move to loosen the restriction on who can be GLeague eligible. I already didn’t want to use my 9th pick on a guy from this draft because then I’d have to roster him and it would have been a big detriment to trying to compete this year. Not sure if the answer would be making it only top 5 in our draft aren’t eligible or only top 5 NBA draft picks.. or what. Even the top 5 NBA Picks could be dicey because we are on pick 11 and a top 5 player is still on the board.

I love the idea of adding more G-League spots to the roster. And tbh I don't think it will really hurt either the Rookie or FA draft unless G league eligibility became more strict. With dynasty there is always heavy emphasis on talent acquisition through rookie drafts and I think that rings even more true in this league due to fact we have to take contracts into consideration. Rookie draft strategy might change to a more Euro/G League focused approach but I dont see there being an issue with the Rookie and FA drafts losing importance. I think adding a player or two + an extra round in the rookie draft would be sufficient. We also should keep in mind that sooner rather than later, high schoolers are going to become draft eligible and that could help bolster the talent pool significantly.

I would agree with everything here. I would not add anymore than 2 spots though. I think it waters down the point of it then. I could argue with only one more spot honestly (thinking strictly for the league as more spots probably helps me more than hurts) because of the same concept.
