IR Spots:
1. Only guys that have an O next to their name on ESPN are eligible to go on IR
Salary
1. We will be using real life contracts based on numbers found on basketball reference www.basketball-reference.com/
2. Salary Cap will be set each off-season. We will increase the Salary cap by 5% every off-season
3. Will be rounded up to the ten thousands. Example Klay Thompson's contract is $18,988,725. But we will simply go with $18.99 million
4. The minimum contract in our league is $1 million (IF you own a guy whose contract is less than that in real life his deal will still be $1 million here)
5. 2022/23 Salary Cap: $182 million. 2023/24 Salary Cap: $191 million
G-League
1. G-League players will not count against your cap space, until they get put on your active roster, which at that time they will get whatever contract they are on.
2. G-League players can be moved to active rosters and back to the G-League spot, but will carry their contract with them back to the G-League spot if sent back to that spot
4. Players are eligible for G-League designation if they are in the G-League, drafted outside of the top 10 in the DBBL Rookie Draft, or play in a Euro/Non-US League.
4a. Players that have played 1 or more seasons (no matter the amount of games) in the NBA either must be activated from the G-League.
4b. Players that are free agents or on active rosters that have that same 1 or more season criteria are also not allowed to be moved to the G-League roster.
5. Teams can place a player (that is G-League eligible) in the G-League spot during the off-season, no players will be allowed to be placed in the G-League during the regular DBBL season, DBBL playoffs, or NBA playoffs.
6. To go with 5, players in the G-League will not count towards your cap space
7. Each team has a limit of 3 'G-League Eligible' players and can NOT go over that limit at ANY time.
Free Agents
1. Players may be added via the Free Agent Bidding system.
2. You will pay the full salary of any players that you drop for the remainder of the season.
3. You will also have to pay half of the dropped player's salary the following season (this should keep guys with a lot of cap room from adding/dropping a bunch of guys in the last week or two of the season).
EX:
Subject: LeBron James (LAL-SF)
Message:
LeBron James (LAL-SF)
Opening Bid - $1 million (this is the minimum bid to start ANY player with)
a. You may add and drop Free Agents freely during the regular season with the following stipulations:
b. Players may be added via the Free Agent Bidding system.
c. If you put a bid on a player teams have 24 hours to place a bid on that player. If there are 4 people that placed a bid after that 24 hours, then those 4 teams will keep bidding till 3 of them drop out of the bidding process. YOU MAY NOT PUT IN A BID AFTER 24 HOURS!!!!!
d. Any bid MUST be .1 or higher. Any bid of less than .1 will be considered an invalid and null and void.
e. You must have proper roster space and cap room when making a bid on a player. No matter what, you have to have the correct number of roster spots open BEFORE you make a bid to be the highest bidder on the number of players you are bidding on. The same goes for cap space. If you make a bid that would put you over cap, your bid is invalid.
4. Dropped players may be claimed via waivers.
a. There will be a waiver priority updated monthly based on the current standings.
b. When dropped, a player will be placed on waivers for 48 hours.
c. If the player is claimed, you no longer have to take a cap hit for dropping him.
d. The person claiming this player will take on whatever contract he had when dropped.
e. If nobody claims this player within the 48 hour period, you will still take the normal cap hit.
EX 1:
Akron Hammers places Steph Curry (GS-PG) $37.46 on waivers
Bullet Club claims Steph Curry (GS-PG) $37.46
---> Hammers no longer has to take cap hit
EX 2:
Hammers place Steph Curry (GS-PG) $37.46 on waivers
Nobody claims Curry
---> Hammers is charged with a $37.46 million cap hit for this year, and $18.73 million for next year
5. Another option is to buyout the players contract for the remainder of the year.
- Buyouts will have a 2X salary cap hit for the current season.
- No cap hit will be on the following season as with normal drops.
- The player will instantly surpass waivers.
EX:
Jordan Bell $1.38 million DROP All cap hit on this year. CAP HIT OF $2.76 milion
6. Off-Season Free Agency: Teams will not be able to add free agents during the offseason outside of the FA draft.
7. Franchise Tags: A player signed from league minimum up to $20 million will have their first year salary multiplied by 150%. A player that signs for $20+ million will simply have $10 million added to their first year salary
a. Example
Team A has LeBron James and he will be a FA this offseason. Team A can tag LeBron James for $35.64 +$10 million as his contract is over $20 million making his new deal $45.64
Team A has Klay Thompson and he will be a FA this offseason. Team A can tag Klay Thompson for 150% his contract which is $18.99, his new deal would be $28.49.
8. Playoff Free Agency:
Rosters will be LOCKED as soon as the first game on Monday, the first week of the playoffs starts. Meaning no drops or adds will be allowed!
-Exception: Player A gets hurt, Team A posts bid for Player B, the healthy replacement, to replace Player A.
This would be an instant add as no other team would be allowed to bid on the player.
If a team decides to replace an injured player, they lose that player for the playoffs, so even if he comes back healthy, the team is NOT allowed to bring that player back.
-A long with this, no non-playoff team is allowed to make adds/drops their roster is locked until we open them back up in the off-season
9. Off-Season Drops:
Offseason drops will have tiered penalties. Salaries from the previous season will be considered when calculating Cap Hit Penalties.
Example:
Drop Robert Covington (PHI-SF) $10.64 million = $2.66 million cap hit for the next season
Here's the scale for drops:
$0 - $5 million = FREE
$5.01 - $10 million = .125 X Salary (1/8th of salary)
$10.01 - $15 million = .25 X Salary (2/8th of salary)
$15.01 - $19.99 million = .375 X Salary (3/8th of salary)
$20+ = .5 X Salary (4/8th of Salary)
Scoring
1. Scoring will be head-to-head
2. We will have 4 divisions, with each division winner making the playoffs and 2 wild card teams as well (6 teams total)
3. CATs will be PTS, REBS, ASTS, FG%, 3PT%, FT%, BLKS, STLS, TOs
Playoff Format
The Structure in the playoffs is a 6 team playoff with 4 division winners and two wild cards. The top 2 seeds receive a bye and the #3 seed plays the #6 seed in the playoffs while the #4 and #5 seeds play each other in round one. Each round (3) will be two week rounds to determine a winner.
- In the second round the #1 seed will play the lowest winning seed from the first round, the #2 seed will play the higher winning seed.
- During the playoffs there WILL BE NO NBA TRANSACTIONS unless you have a player that is out for the rest of the year or out for that round. In that case ONLY you MAY add another player and playoff drop the hurt player. You will get that player back after the DBBL Finals. This is so you don't have players who just eat your team alive because they are hurt. Also, you can still activate guys from your DL which may cause you to drop someone.
- Playoff Adds - While there are no transactions in the playoffs, you may add a replacement player for one that gets hurt in the postseason. It is an instant add so that you will not lose out on trying to acquire stats on a hurt player. We do this so that teams don't suffer from having bad luck.
Rookie Draft
1. We will hold the Rookie Draft every year beginning on
2. The order for non-playoff teams will be determined by the NBA lottery, teams will get their pick based on NBA teams in the same lottery spot as them
ex. The team with the worst record in DBBL will be linked to the NBA team with the #1 spot in the NBA Lottery, same goes for teams 2, 3, 4 etc.
3. Teams will have 12 hours per pick
4. The Rookie Draft will consist of 2 rounds
FA Draft
1. We will decide early next off-season when the FA draft will be held annually
2. The cutoff date for UFAs is June 30th at 11:59 PM EST, if a player is a FA after this point they are a FA in our league
3. RFAs will ONLY become FA's here if they switch teams in real life, if they do not switch teams, the owner of that player will retain the player on his new contract
4. The order for the FA draft will be determined by inverse standings
5. The FA draft will consist of 2 rounds
6. Teams will have 12 hours to make their selection
Trading
1. Once trades have been posted and accepted they will be voted on by the TRC
2. If you are involved in a trade, you MUST do two things.
-Must put your acceptance and your reasoning why you did the deal. It doesn't have to be a long response but a simple reasoning will do.
-After successfully proceeding past number 1, you may not post anymore about the trade. It doesn't matter if you agree with someone or disagree with a TRC's opinion, whatever they decide, the deal will either be approved or vetoed.
- Failure to do so will result in the trade being taken off the table unless it is a second post where you give your reasoning. Future action will be taken with more offenses.
- If you are NOT involved with the trade and are not on TRC, you are not allowed to post, period.
3. Trades must have 3 votes to approve to go through. If 1 TRC member is involved and the vote is 2-2 the trade will go to a league vote. If 2 TRC members are involved the trade must get 2 approves to go through
4. Teams are allowed to cover any amount of a players contract for the current season (This cap coverage does NOT carry over into the offseason, so teams will still use the contract the player had prior to the trade to determine their off-season drop penalty)
5. Teams are NOT allowed to trade cap for picks, or trade a player in a deal and then trade back for said player with the other team covering money on the player.
Example:
Team A trades:
LeBron James (LAL-SF) $35.64 million
2019 2nd Rookie
Team A covers $35.64 million of LeBron's salary
Team B trades:
Anthony Davis (NOP-PF/C) $25.43 million
Team B covers $25.43 million
5. Teams are NOT allowed to trade cap space
Activity
1. In Season: Levels of inactivity and when they will be enforced
a. 1 Week of not setting lineups on ESPN = PM on Proboards and Email notifying owner that they are on a probation
b. Either a 2nd week in a row without setting lineups or a 2nd week later in the season = PM/Email and losing 1 spot in the rookie draft post lottery
c. Either a 3rd week in a row without setting lineups or a 3rd week later in the season = PM/Email and losing an additional spot in the rookie draft
d. Either a 4th week in a row without setting lineups or a 4th week later in the season = Kicked from league and new owner will have penalties wiped off the books
2. Off-Season: Levels of inactivity and when they will be enforced. I get the off-season is not as busy as the season, and people have lives and all that good stuff, but not being able to find any time at all to log on will not be accepted, like I have said, I think inactivity kills leagues and do not want this league to go down because of it
a. 2 weeks of no log-in = PM/Email asking where the owner is, just to make sure they are still there
b. 4 weeks of no log-in = PM/Email given warning that they are on probation
c. 6 weeks of no log-in = Email and loss of 1 spot in FA Draft
d. 8 weeks of no log-in = Email and staff discussing kicking from league
e. If we get to d and the owner has not logged in and the staff deem it necessary to kick the owner, the new owner will have the FA draft spot restored if possible, if not a comp (untradable) 2nd round FA pick will be given for the next off-season
Tanking
1. First time a team is found guilty of tanking the team will get a warning
2. Second time a team is found guilty of tanking the team will lose 1 spot in the rookie and FA draft in both rounds
3. Third time a team is found guilty of tanking the team will lose an additional spot in the rookie and FA draft in both rounds
4. Fourth time a team is found guilty of tanking the team will be removed from the league, no questions asked
5. IF a team gets removed from the league, the new owner will have the draft position restored to normal numbers
Will update as we get things going
